About the project

ESPN sportswriter Sam Alipour is the host of the SportsCenter segment "Hang Time" that focuses on athletes outside their domain.

The Process

For this project, we followed Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry and JaVale McGee to Reboot Float & Cryotherapy Spa in Oakland for a little R&R. The shooting of this project was a quick one. Often at times that’s the case when working with athletes. Preparation is key for this scenario. Handheld camera work allowed us to document the entire experience. We also mounted a GoPro within the cryotherapy tank to get shots from within. The actual shooting time we had was a little over half and hour.

The Result

The “Hang Time” segment aired in late May 2017 in the midst for the Warriors playoff run. Other videos we shot for the segment feature players from the Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, and Los Angeles Lakers.
